Earlier in her career, Nayar served as head of strategy and capability development for policy, external affairs, and communications at Pfizer for 14 years.

NEW YORK: Porter Novelli has brought on Amy Nicole Nayar as SVP of global health and wellness and lead for its relationship with longtime client Johnson & Johnson. It is a newly created position.

Nayar, who most recently ran a consultancy called Forefront Leadership, is reporting to Henry Engleka, SVP of global health and wellness. She is based in the agency’s New York office.

Earlier in her career, Nayar served as head of strategy and capability development for policy, external affairs, and communications at Pfizer for 14 years, where she oversaw the global medical, marketing, and public affairs teams.

Paul George, ‎EVP and global director of health at Porter Novelli, said the agency created Nayar’s role due to overall growth in its health and wellness practice. He praised her diverse background, saying the firm needs to ensure it has talent that can serve a range of clients and their needs.

Porter did not reveal its own revenue growth figures for 2013 for PRWeek’s Agency Business Report, however organic PR growth at parent company Omnicom was 1.5% last year. The firm did say 75% of its 2013 growth came from existing clients and one-quarter was from new business.

In addition, the Omnicom Group agency has appointed Russell LaMontagne to serve in the newly created position of SVP of health and wellness in Boston. He is reporting to Albie Jarvis, MD of the agency’s Boston office.

LaMontagne, who previously founded and ran Corinth Group, was brought on by Porter to grow the Boston health and wellness practice, explained George. He added that LaMontagne will work on all areas of health and wellness, with a specific focus on biotech.

While managing Corinth Group, LaMontagne worked on comms programs for clients such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Bristol Myers Squibb, The Iacocca Foundation, and DestinationRx.
