UDG, a FTSE 250 company offering a range of services, will pay £6.5m on completion of the deal for the 33-strong London-based agencies and £6.5 payable over the coming three years based on performance.
Launched in 2000 by Marika Freris and Rosemary Hennings, Galliard and Nyxeon were advised on the deal by D5 Capital and will be joining UDG division Ashfield Healthcare Communications.
Services include media relations, media relations, issues management, scientific and medical education, corporate and employee communications.
Galliard managing partner Roland Carreras, who joined the agency from BUPA in 2002, said: "The deal sets the scene for the next stage in our growth and we look forward to working with Ashfield’s strong stable of medical education agencies including InforMed, Watermeadow and Knowledgepoint360. D5 Capital has worked hard to find a group with the right fit for our talented team and to deliver the right deal."
Liam FitzGerald, CEO of UDG Healthcare, said: "We are delighted to announce the acquisition of Galliard and Nyxeon, which add strong scientific public relations capabilities to the services we already deliver to our clients. This purchase is fully aligned with our global growth strategy of extending the range of services we offer in high value multichannel healthcare communications and follows the successful acquisitions of InforMed, Watermeadow and more recently Knowledgepoint360."
UDG Healthcare offers services including packaging, sales, marketing, and medical services.
