Stripe and BDO triumph at CIPR Excellence Awards

Edinburgh-based Stripe Communications last night claimed the prize for Outstanding Public Relations Consultancy at the CIPR Excellence Awards 2014.

Stripe, the first Scottish agency to win the award, was commended by the judges for its "excellent internal culture, mentoring scheme and delivery on its objective to be the industry leader for working parents".

Manchester’s SkyParlour PR, a bespoke consultancy operating as a specialist in the international e-commerce, m-commerce and payments industries, was handed the title of Outstanding Small Consultancy.

Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO was awarded Outstanding In-House Public Relations Team.

Markettiers4dc took away the most trophies of the night, winning three awards including Best Broadcast Campaign for its work with Slater & Gordon, and the Healthcare Campaign award (alongside Pegasus) for its work with Bayer Animal Health, which also picked up the Best Use of Research, Planning, Measurement and Evaluation prize.

Brands2Life won two awards, for Best Event and Consumer Relations Campaign, and M&C Saatchi PR also received dual recognition, for Corporate and Business Communications Campaign and Best Technology Campaign.

Other winners included individuals Sally Aston of Diabetes UK and Karen Tippett-Lehane, who were recognised as Outstanding Young Communicator and Outstanding Freelance Practitioner respectively.

CIPR president Stephen Waddington said: "The standard of winners and strength of the competition tonight are proof that there has never been such an exciting time to work in public relations, wherever you are in the UK. Our reputation as a profession is built by the kinds of campaigns, teams and professionals receiving these accolades."
