Ubiquity selects McGrath/Power as US AOR as it moves onto Nasdaq

Work on the account began last month, after McGrath/Power was selected based on a formal presentation and discussions that started in February.

SAN JOSE, CA: IP and software products company Ubiquity has tapped McGrath/Power Public Relations and Communications as its US AOR as it moves to the Nasdaq stock exchange.

Work on the account began last month, after McGrath/Power was selected based on a formal presentation and discussions that started in February. There was no formal RFP, though a few New York-based agencies were considered, said McGrath/Power CEO Jonathan Bloom.

Neither Bloom nor Ubiquity COO Steve Koskie would say what other agencies competed for the account.

"[Ubiquity] knew [McGrath/Power] from their past work in many of the markets we are in and thought them to be a very logical fit for what Ubiquity needs to accomplish in the communications process," said Koskie. "Ultimately, it was clear that McGrath/Power was the best choice for us given their experience, reputation in our market, and the approach they outlined for our program."

In conjunction with Ubiquity’s move onto the Nasdaq stock exchange this summer, McGrath/Power was brought on to better establish the company with the public. The firm will also assist Ubiquity with internal and external communications, including branding all products and services and communicating the company’s value to shareholders.

"Right now, we are focused on creating an image for them in the market as a whole," said Bloom.

McGrath/Power SVP and partner Kate Walker will lead a team of four agency staffers on the account, which Bloom said has a six-figure budget.

The contract will run for six months, but Bloom said he hopes it will be extended.

There is no outgoing agency. Ubiquity has yet to market its products and services, explained Koskie, adding that the company previously communicated at a "very basic level," predominantly via press releases.

"We had some part-time help on press-release development but didn’t have a formal agency relationship," he said.
