An unfair affair?

Agony uncle and University of Westminster's visiting professor of PR Trevor Morris gives it to you straight.

I think one of my senior managers is having an affair with a very junior member of their team. What should I do?

Affairs can cause jealousy, and I don’t mean of a sexual nature. The other people in your senior manager’s team may feel the love-bombed junior is getting special treatment or bad-mouthing them during pillow talk.

Speak to them both, tell them to ’fess up about the relationship and then move one to another team. Once an affair is out in the open, the shadow of secrecy is removed and everyone quickly loses interest.

What you can never do is stop people falling in lust and love in the office. And wouldn’t you and your staff’s lives be dull if you could?
