He replaces Lisa Popplewell who assumes a new role as general manager of the Australian office operations.
Roberts comes to Weber Shandwick from Bell Pottinger in the United Kingdom, where he managed the agency’s Crisis Management practice. He also previously served as head of communications for BBC News.
"Peter brings with him diverse corporate and reputation management experience and a proven track record in new business acquisition, helping us to further expand our sector expertise and support our growing crisis communications offering," said Ava Lawler, managing director of Weber Shandwick.
In addition to Roberts’ appointment, the agency has also brought on two specialists, Senior Account Directors Belinda Thomson and Lukas Picton to further bolster Weber Shandwick’s expanding corporate offering in Australia.
Thomson joins from Buchan Consulting and is a specialist in professional and financial services as well as corporate communications for a range of large national and global companies. Picton was most recently Communications Manager for RSPCA NSW.
