CHICAGO: Peter Granat, president and CEO of cloud-based PR software provider Cision AB, has resigned, effective immediately, to lead the company resulting from the combination of Cision and Vocus.
Magnus Thell has replaced Granat on an interim basis.
Through its Blue Canyon Holdings unit, private equity firm GTCR Valor Merger Sub acquired 72% of Cision in April. Trade rival Meltwater owns 15.3% of the company. GTCR intends to form a global PR cloud company by bringing together Cision and Vocus, the latter of which it acquired in a $447 million deal in April.
Granat will lead the merged company made up of Cision and Vocus.
Thell will continue in his current role as head of Cision Europe as he takes on the CEO and president responsibilities. Last February, Granat, previously the company’s North American chief executive, succeeded Hans Gieskes as president and CEO.
Thell joined Cision in 2005 as a sales director, moving his way up to roles including client management director, VP, and MD of the business in Cision Nordics. Previously, he was a senior consultant at Ernst & Young.
A Cision representative was not immediately available for comment on the leadership change.
