A former journalist, Bharadwaj was earlier the Co-Chair (West and South) of the Brand and Consumer Practice. In her new role she will work closely with partner firm Medulla Communications to manage healthcare clients and at the same time continue to lead work for broadcast and entertainment clients in Mumbai. "With more players, increased competition and closely followed regulatory framework, differentiated communications will be a key to win in the healthcare marketplace," she said.

Benegal takes on the role of IPC for Brand and Consumer. She has more than 20 years of domestic and global experience in public relations, marketing and events. Her last assignment was in New York where she worked at the News Corp-owned Star TV. Her assignment concentrated on business development and customised advertising solutions for clients. Prior to that, Charu headed a Public Relations agency’s Mumbai operations. She has had a long stint in the entertainment business with Sony Entertainment Television.

She joined Sony Entertainment Television when the cable and satellite industry in India was very nascent. Benegal oversaw its expansion in North America where she launched Sony’s Indian film distribution business.

"Our clients expect us to provide them with strategic counsel along with creative and integrated campaigns. I am confident that both the Practice Chairs will provide these essential services," said Nikhil Dey, President, Public Relations, Genesis Burson-Marsteller.
