For the 4th consecutive year, PRWeek and the Council of PR Firms are collaborating on the Diversity Distinction in PR Awards. I've spoken with enough industry leaders to realize this is truly one of the crucial issues in PR today, which only increases the pride I have in PRWeek being involved in such an initiative.
This program was truly created to raise awareness of the need for the PR industry at large to make strides on this front. Inasmuch as we have some of the industry's true leaders serving as arbiters over these awards, I feel confident in saying that entry in itself is a victory because your work will be highlighted in front of some of the communications world's leading minds.
Of course, I fully understand the allure of taking home a trophy. I've listened as many industry heads – both agency and in-house – have explained to me their reluctance to enter in years past. Your concerns have been heard and are reflected in the updated categories for 2014, which offer entities of all sizes and types a greater opportunity for their work to stand out. And remember: all accomplishments on this front – no matter how big or small – should be celebrated.
The deadline for entry in Thursday, June 19, but you need not wait until then to enter.
Be proud of your accomplishments on the diversity front. And make sure you tell us about it by submitting for the Diversity Distinction in PR Awards.
