The agency won the retained account after a pitch and is understood to be taking over from an incumbent agency with a tech focus. Taggar is switching to Surname & Surname for its consumer expertise.
Taggar was launched in December 2013 and is the world’s first social augmented reality platform, with image recognition capabilities that allow users to ‘tag’ real-world objects with comments, videos and stickers.
The app is backed by Invoke Capital, the investment firm of former software company Autonomy CEO Lynch.
Surname & Surname will work with Taggar and its network of partners, including Warner Music, Capitol Records and RCA Records.
Taggar aims to develop augmented reality from an advertising tool into a social connector. The agency will be helping to drive word of mouth and increase downloads.
Surname & Surname will report to Taggar co-founder and head of marketing Charlotte Golunski.
