NEW YORK: Coyne Public Relations has promoted VP Chris Brienza to SVP and head of the agency’s New York office.
Brienza, who has worked at Coyne since 2007, stepped into the newly created position last week. He will continue to report to Brad Buyce, EVP of client strategy. The New York office has 15 staffers.
Brienza said he’s "very big on keeping a good locker room," or making sure staffers are happy and the office chemistry works.
While Brienza is not looking to hire in New York immediately, he said if the office grows its business, he could add staffers.
In addition to overseeing the location, Brienza will continue to work on accounts, such as Daytona International Speedway, Ironman, the US Golf Association, and USA Today Sports. He also supports ongoing efforts with ESPN, the ASICS LA Marathon, and the National Senior Games Association.
One project Brienza’s team is working on is Daytona International Speedway’s Daytona Rising redevelopment project, which includes the renovation of the entire front stretch of the speedway. The project is expected to be complete in January 2016.
Before joining Coyne in 2007, Brienza served as executive director of publicity at Rodale for nearly two and a half years, handling communications for Runner’s World, Bicycling, and Backpackers.
Prior, he worked in communications roles in a number of sports organizations, including Major League Soccer, the NBA, and the New York Knicks.
