CHICAGO: Edelman has promoted Kevin Cook and Una Pipic to COO and chief of staff, respectively, in its Chicago office.
Both are reporting to Edelman Chicago president Jay Porter in their newly created roles.
The agency said in a statement that it added the leadership positions because of the office’s continued growth and momentum. Edelman achieved global revenue of $740.1 million and $450.3 million in the US in 2013.
Cook, who has worked at the agency since 1996, has served in his most recent role of MD of the Chicago corporate affairs practice since 2008. He helped to strengthen the practice by creating a business and social purpose team, as well as corporate editorial and digital groups.
The revenue generated by Edelman’s corporate affairs practice has doubled from about $12 million to $25 million in the past six years.
In addition to leading the corporate practice, Cook serves as the North American lead for clients such as Humana, Nationwide, and Parker-Hannifin.
Porter said Cook and Pipic were acting as leaders before the appointments, so creating the positions was about "reflecting the contributions that people were already making and making sure that we gave them and the rest of the operation clarity."
"[Cook] in particular is an 18-year veteran of the firm, and was already an operational leader of the office in addition to this corporate role," he added.
The agency was also impressed with the effect Pipic has had on the office in such a short amount of time, said Porter.
Pipic joined Edelman last year as SVP of new business and marketing. Over the past year, she has helped the agency create winning client proposals and has overseen internal communications and sponsorship initiatives for the Chicago operation.
Before Edelman, Pipic helped to launch 1871, a co-working space and hub for technology and digital entrepreneurs in Chicago.
