RICHMOND: The Virginia Tourism Authority, doing business as the Virginia Tourism Corporation, released an RFP for a full-service marketing agency to provide integrated marketing and advertising services.
"We hope you’re interested in helping us take the brand driving all of this joy, Virginia is for Lovers, to the next level," the RFP states.
The document adds that the group is seeking a full-service agency to work with VTC’s brand director to "analyze tourism research for strategy and execution of integrated marketing programs."
According to documents dated Jan. 31, the VTA awarded a contract to New York-based Lou Hammond & Associates for PR services. The contract runs from Feb. 1 through Jan. 31, 2015, with three one-year options for the Virginia Tourism Corporation to extend.
Representatives from Lou Hammond were not immediately available for comment. The Virginia Tourism Authority declined further comment.
The VTC will use the "Virginia is for Lovers" brand, according to the RFP, and requires a range of services that the contractor may be asked to provide, including strategic planning and management, account services, media strategy and buying, creative, production, presentation and event support, and subcontracting.
Staffing for integrated marketing programs may include the contractor’s senior level staff providing services such as creative, copywriting, and digital "at all times," according to the RFP. A minimum of two full-time account service personnel are also required for staffing.
The RFP asks agencies submitting proposals to provide a proposed total annual cost of the contract that includes a $1 million retainer fee "and other itemized costs," as well as an explanation of the costs.
Proposals are due no later than 4 pm EST May 13. A mandatory pre-proposal conference/teleconference is scheduled for 10 am EST on April 25.
