AHIP's Zirkelbach appointed PhRMA SVP

The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) has named Robert Zirkelbach SVP of communications, effective May 5.

WASHINGTON: The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) has named Robert Zirkelbach SVP of communications, effective May 5.

He will oversee PhRMA’s communications initiatives in support of its advocacy priorities and report to Josephine Martin, EVP of public affairs.

Zirkelbach previously worked at America’s Health Insurance Plans, where he led policy communications, media relations, and grassroots advocacy, in addition to serving as spokesperson for the health insurance industry group. While at AHIP, Zirkelbach worked on a range of health policy issues, including reimbursement and coverage initiatives, the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, and Medicaid.

Prior to joining AHIP, Zirkelbach worked as press secretary for Rep. Jim Nussle (R-IA), for whom he served as spokesperson and led various communications activities.
