High-tech government contractor Civergy begins agency search

Civergy and its subsidiary companies are looking for agency support for PR, advertising, and marketing services, according to search documents released this month.

LANDOVER, MD: Cybersecurity, energy, and business intelligence company Civergy and its subsidiary companies are looking for agency support for PR, advertising, and marketing services, according to search documents released this month.

According to an RFQ, qualified firms will have experience in "forming strategic partnerships with government-sector organizations, especially US government services and technology firms."

Agencies including APCO Worldwide, Qorvis MSLGroup, Ogilvy Public Relations, Weber Shandwick, and BGR Group are in a pool of 29 firms that have been sent the RFQ, though the company said any agency is welcome to submit a proposal.

Qualifications include having successfully carried out large-scale marketing, advertising, public relations, and branding projects, according to the RFQ. Contending firms should also be able to skillfully tell the company’s story.  

The RFQ documents also state that firms submitting proposals should have "significant" experience in branding, advertising, public relations, graphic design, information, or print design. Agencies should also have adequate staff to support the company without hiring a subcontractor. However, the company is open to proposals from "teams of firms," according to the documents.

The company acquired New West Technologies and BION Enterprises in January. Last month, it named Retired US Air Force Brig. Gen. Mark Owen as its CEO. It has grown into a company of 130 people supporting federal agencies and commercial firms.

Civergy’s goals include developing and projecting the image of the company and its subsidiaries as "good community partners," increasing awareness of it as a technology-enabled service provider, and increasing awareness of specific programs, products, and services. Because it is operating in a new market environment, it is looking to display a "different image and competitive strategy to update and reposition its brand," according to the RFQ.

Proposals are due at 5 pm EST on April 30 at its Englewood, CO, office.

The top three to four firms chosen as finalists will be asked to make oral presentations on or around May 15, according to the RFQ. A decision is expected about a month after the submission date. No budget has been set.

There is no incumbent firm on the project, said Rebecca Cales, director of capture and proposal development at the company.
