Morning ritual
It is indeed a ritual. I start with coffee at Koolchick's Kaffe at the train station.

I then meet colleague and Gibbs & Soell business consulting practice MD Steve Halsey on the platform. On the train, I read as much news as possible, resist the urge to talk too much business, and examine common sense in Washington, DC.

Biggest surprise on your iPod/iPhone
Blake Shelton's “BoysRound Here,” for a little bit of country and The Black Keys' “Lonely Boy, for a little bit of rock.

Daily required reading
Digital editions of The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. As well as these outlets, I always read the Twitter feeds of the Associated Press, CNN Breaking News, and The Huffington Post.

Best career advice
I was asked in my early 20s by a mentor at the time what level I aspired to be at the company. I answered confidently. The response: Don't ever sell yourself short. Don't ever aim low.

Most distinct aspect of your personal office
The view from the 44th floor of One Grand Central Place.

First PR job
I was a Burson-Marsteller intern, and the only one that summer assigned to work at newly acquired Cohn & Wolfe.

Guilty TV pleasure
ESPNU. I can't get enough of NCAA lacrosse. Go Heels.

First website or app checked in the morning
I just recently started using Flipboard. It's a great news gathering app and social news magazine.

Most regrettable career moment
In 2013, we held alumni receptions in each of our three US offices. 

I really wish we had started this activity sooner as we have built such a great community in the past 40 years.

Proudest career achievement
Record agency growth and repositioning Gibbs & Soell as a business communications firm in the last two years.

Ideal day off
That is an easy one. Head north to the Adirondack Mountains. Stress and perspective align once you hit 90 mph on a snowmobile.
