The Know Before you Go campaign, which aims to help those going abroad avoid the pitfalls of travel, is being put out to tender through the Government’s closed PR roster.
Launched in 2001, the behavioural change campaign includes work with more than 300 industry partners and is currently handled by Bullet and Grayling.
Aimed at lowering the need for consular assistance for British citizens abroad, messaging covers everything from raising issues like forced marriage through to advice on taking out travel insurance.
One PR figure with insight into the tender said the six-figure brief particularly targeted "hard-to-reach audiences like students, as well as those aged 50 or over who are set to retire".
Neither Grayling nor Bullet, who declined to comment, are on the six-strong roster, which comprises Engine Group, Munro & Forster, Consolidated, SKV Communications, Unity and Syndicate Communications.
An FCO spokesperson said: "We are currently conducting a competitive tender for the re-procurement of the KBYG campaign. We cannot disclose further details."
