Participant Media taps Boyd as executive vice president

Participant Media has appointed Ann Boyd, former EVP of global communications at Sony Pictures Entertainment, as EVP.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA: Participant Media has appointed Ann Boyd, former EVP of global communications at Sony Pictures Entertainment, as EVP.

In the newly created role, Boyd is tasked with handling communications strategies and operations for the entertainment company's media portfolio, which includes its film and documentary division; TV network Pivot; and digital lifestyle brand, TakePart.

She is reporting to Participant Media CEO Jim Berk.

While serving as EVP at Sony Pictures, Boyd oversaw the company's corporate communications and social responsibility team. She joined Sony in 2008 as VP of global communications.

Before that, Boyd served as VP of corporate communications at Fox Interactive Media, which includes online channels such as Myspace, IGN, and Rotten Tomatoes.

She also previously worked at Waggener Edstrom Worldwide, where she conducted media relations efforts and worked on the Microsoft account.
