Business Wire adds social analytics, digital services

SAN FRANCISCO: Press release distributor Business Wire is launching two services: automatic access to Social Media Monitoring Reports managed by analytics company NUVI as part of its NewsTrak measurement suite, and News Capsule.

The Social Media Measurement Reports and NewsTrak are components of the Global-Mobile-Social-Measurable suite of services, which aim to amplify outreach and provide analytics issued on the Business Wire network.

The reports provide users with an overview of social media influencer information by identifying influencers and their location, and providing graphic-rich data in terms of sentiment analysis. These reports include data from sources including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Google+, Delicious, Reddit, Vimeo, Flickr, and more than 3 million RSS feeds.

“This addresses social media engagement direct to consumers and direct to reporters and helps PR pros identify influencers that might be affecting conversations or brand messaging,” said Tom Becktold, SVP of marketing at Business Wire.

The reports are generated for up to a week after the press release's distribution. The NUVI-expanded reports are available as part of Business Wire's GMSM service at a cost of $95 per release.

Next month, the company will make its News Capsule and Picture Capsule content-marketing platforms available. News Capsule provides a measurable platform to leverage PR and marketing content that is custom-branded to build, share, and update as a campaign progresses. Capsule content includes interactive multimedia features that can be used via mobile, tablet, or desktop device. PR pros can add video, documents, images, hyperlinks, and e-commerce to their content and update it through News Capsule.

Meanwhile, Picture Capsule enables clients to take a static photo – such as an image of a new car – and overlap information onto it.

“So if you brush with a mouse over the gas tank, it will tell you the miles per gallon, or if you brush over a dollar sign, it can tell you how much the car costs,” said Becktold. “This feature allows the communicator to put different pieces of content within that photo and drives traffic back to the client's site.”

Capsule press releases and multimedia will be distributed via the Business Wire network and include an embed link that enables users to publish the branded capsule to their website, blog, or social media channel.

News Capsules will cost $4,950 while Picture Capsules are priced at $2,495.
