SINGAPORE: State-owned airline Qatar Airways has awarded its retained PR account in Singapore and Malaysia to Waggener Edstrom.
A spokesperson for Qatar Airways confirmed the news with Campaign Asia-Pacific. He noted that the agency's primary task is to strengthen the brand's reputation as a premium five-star carrier by working closely with its offices in both Singapore and Malaysia to execute an integrated communications strategy.
The brand previously managed communications duties in-house, according to sources.
“Part of this communications strategy will be regular media engagement programs and activities with the local and regional newspapers and broadcast stations in both countries,” the spokesperson added.
The brand expects the partnership to raise its profile in Singapore and Malaysia, as well as to increase public awareness of the airline's positioning as a premium product serving more than 130 destinations across six continents.
