CHICAGO: DePaul University has hired Cynthia Lawson as VP of PR and communications, effective April 2.
Lawson will lead the office of PR and communications, and serve as the university's chief spokesperson. She will also be responsible for building DePaul's reputation through internal, executive, crisis, and emergency communications.
The role has been vacant since July 2011. Cheryl Procter Rogers previously held the top communications position at the university.
Lawson was most recently assistant to the chancellor of marketing and communications at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. She has also worked at Texas A&M University, College Station, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, the Culver Academies, Eastern Michigan University, and the Detroit Edison Company.
