H+K Strategies names Opinsky DC office leader

WASHINGTON: Hill+Knowlton Strategies has appointed Howard Opinsky EVP and GM of the firm's Washington office, effective March 1.

WASHINGTON: Hill+Knowlton Strategies has appointed Howard Opinsky EVP and GM of the firm's Washington office, effective March 1.

Opinsky previously served as MD of global corporate communications at JPMorgan Chase. He led corporate performance, operations, and CSR efforts, as well as public affairs work, for the financial institution.

Opinsky also worked at Weber Shandwick for 10 years as EVP and director of its Washington-based public affairs and crisis practice. At Weber, he counseled clients including Cisco, Mattel, and Microsoft, and conducted government work for the US and Colombia.

During the 2000 Republican primaries, Opinsky served as national press secretary for US Sen. John McCain (R-AZ). He has also worked as a media strategist and campaign operative for US Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL) and former US Sen. Phil Gramm (R-TX).
