NEW YORK: Thomson Reuters has acquired RedEgg, a media intelligence platform company.

Thomson Reuters will fold RedEgg into its corporate services business. RedEgg co-founders Gaugarin Oliver and Eric Hill will join Thomson Reuters as global head of PR services and head of commercial for PR services in the US, respectively. Oliver will report directly to Steve Roycroft, global MD of corporate services at Thomson Reuters.

Prior to the deal, RedEgg's MyMediaInfo media contact database and MyNewsBrief service were available only to Thomson One Public Relations and Thomson Reuters InPublic customers.

However, the acquisition will allow Thomson Reuters to further sell PR professionals platforms to increase the impact of their communications programs, said Roycroft.

“The current market landscape is driving companies to combine their communications across PR, marketing, and IR outreach,” he said. “As a result, companies need tools to help them develop and distribute their messages more effectively.”

Roycroft added that the acquisition “complements the release-publishing capabilities, Multimedia NewsCapsule, and proprietary news and information sources that Thomson Reuters already offers public relations professionals.”

A representative from RedEgg could not immediately be reached for comment.
