PARIS: Havas has acquired a majority stake in Victors & Spoils, a creative advertising agency that uses crowd-sourcing principles.

The agency will be part of the Havas Worldwide business unit. One of the firm's first initiatives for the holding company will be to use its proprietary technology to create a 15,000-person professional Havas “crowd” to farm ideas from.

Founder John Winsor will take on the role of Havas' chief innovation officer in addition to serving as CEO at Victors & Spoils. The shop was founded in 2009 by Winsor, a former VP and executive director of strategy at Crispin Porter & Bogusky; Claudia Batten, co-founder of gaming advertising network Massive; and Evan Fry, a former VP and creative director at CP&B.

The firm's clients include Coca-Cola, Converse, General Mills, Harley Davidson, Mercedes Benz, and Virgin America.
