Illinois picks NorthStar for clean air campaign

SPRINGFIELD, IL: The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has selected NorthStar Strategies to launch a statewide clean air campaign.

SPRINGFIELD, IL: The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has selected NorthStar Strategies to launch a statewide clean air campaign.

The firm will develop a comprehensive year-round effort to address air-quality issues and seek voluntary action from consumers to reduce air pollution. It will create targeted messages in Spanish and other languages as part of the effort, according to the RFP.

The three-year deal has an overall budget of $3.5 million. The state has the option to renew it for two additional years.

“The agency feels that the price submitted by NorthStar is in line with the agency's estimated costs and that the technical proficiency of NorthStar justifies the additional costs,” the state said in an award notice.

NorthStar believes it will make a difference in Illinois.

“Our goal is to put in place programs that change behavior and improve our air quality,” said Dinny Cosyns, principal consultant at the firm.

Representatives at the Illinois EPA did not immediately respond to requests seeking comment.

Last month, Illinois picked Fleishman-Hillard for a $14 million tourism PR contract. Edelman was that account's incumbent.

California is searching for a firm to develop a comprehensive outreach and marketing initiative about the transition of transportation fuels to non-petroleum, clean alternative fuels, as well as advanced vehicle technologies.
