NEW YORK: PR Newswire launched a dedicated portal for bloggers, online journalists, and hobbyists on Monday.

The “PR Newswire…for bloggers” site includes information about the services that the company provides for bloggers and online journalists. It also features customized newsfeeds, event listings, blogger media-tour opportunities, and a press release widget that can be included on websites.

PR Newswire will also review and profile five blogs on the site every week. At launch, the page reviewed food, film, and education blogs. Bloggers whose sites are reviewed also receive a badge they can display on their websites.

“One thing that I encounter is a lot of people saying, ‘I can't use PR Newswire for Journalists because I'm a blogger,'” said Tom Hynes, blogger relations manager at PR Newswire. “If you look at the Huffington Post, Mashable, or TechCrunch, the reach of these blogs is so much stronger than it's ever been before. This is where the content is going and where the eyeballs are.”

Last week, the Hispanicize 2012 event named PR Newswire its official wire partner, and the company also said it expanded its photo-distribution options with Getty Images.
