PURCHASE, NY: PepsiCo has promoted senior manager of digital media communications Josh Karpf to global director of digital and social media, replacing Bonin Bough.
Bough, who worked at PepsiCo for more than three years, joined Kraft Foods as VP of global digital and consumer engagement in February. Bough had reported to Peter Land, SVP of communications at PepsiCo.
PepsiCo promoted Karpf to lead the company's digital team last month, and he worked on its digital activities at the South by Southwest Interactive festival. The food and beverage giant has been a sponsor of SXSW for four years.
Karpf had served as senior manager of digital media communications since February 2008. Previously, he worked at General Electric for about four years in various PR and marketing roles.
Pepsi representatives declined to give further details on Karpf's promotion.
PepsiCo also recently hired Brunswick Group managing partner Jim Wilkinson to serve as EVP of communications. Despite the different title, Wilkinson replaced SVP of consumer relations and CCO Julie Hamp, who left the company March 2.
