Port Authority picks Y&R for marcomms account

The WPP Group marketing agency won the contract following a competitive RFP. It will help the organization with various marketing, advertising, and media initiatives, according to the RFP. The firm will be expected to perform community outreach, web and social media strategy, and media planning and buying. It was immediately unclear whether other WPP firms would help Y&R with PR elements of the contract.

A Y&R representative did not immediately return a request seeking comment.

The Port Authority operates many of the New York metropolitan area's major transportation facilities, such as LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy, Newark, and Stewart international airports. It also operates the Holland and Lincoln tunnels and the 16-acre World Trade Center site in Lower Manhattan.

The four-year deal will take effect July 1. It includes two possible one-year extensions. The incumbent agency was Korey Kay & Partners, which was working on a $5 million contract with the Port Authority.

Representatives from both the Port Authority and Korey Kay did not immediately return requests for comment.
