Misspellings distract from Romney's messaging

Political observers have become temporarily distracted from Mitt Romney's messaging by a rash of misspellings in his campaign materials.

Political observers have become temporarily distracted from Mitt Romney's messaging by a rash of misspellings in his campaign materials.

Over the weekend, Romney's Facebook wall teased a TV ad for his campaign that incorrectly spelled “sneak peek” in the promotional copy as “sneak peak.”

While the mistake may be minor, it follows another highly publicized error from last week, in which the campaign rolled out its iPhone app featuring the campaign slogan “A Better Amercia.”

Political observers note that when gaffes like this occur, they can spread like wildfire, make the campaign the butt of jokes, and distract it from its key messages.

The Romney campaign's response to the incidents has been "mistakes happen."
