DALLAS: Bill Ogle, former CMO of Motorola Mobility, will join digital marketing company Blue Calypso as chairman and CEO on June 11.
Ogle will work to drive growth and brand engagement for the company's word-of-mouth digital marketing platform, Calyp. He signed on with the firm after Google completed its acquisition of Motorola Mobility in May. Ogle served as CMO of Motorola Mobility for three years.
“I believe this is the next wave of marketing,” Ogle said about Blue Calypso's word-of-mouth platform. “It's the right time to jump into this new world.”
The Calyp platform allows brands to launch product campaigns on social media platforms and monitor endorsements. Using the tool, companies can also incentivize consumers to endorse products by offering rewards.
Ogle first learned of Blue Calypso when Motorola tested Calyp late last year, he added.
Prior to working at Motorola, Ogle was CMO of Samsung Telecommunications America and CMO of Pizza Hut. He has also worked at Sara Lee and Procter & Gamble.
“I've worked with big companies my whole career, but I've always had the itch to be an entrepreneur and start with something smaller that I could lead and run,” Ogle said.
