NEW YORK: Foursquare is looking to expand its communications team with the addition of a PR director.
Based in New York and reporting to Jon Steinback, director of marketing and communications, the PR director will lead business and tech-focused PR efforts. Much of the role will involve developing and coordinating strategy and messaging around the launch of new products, announcements, and partnerships.
"We recently hired Steven Rosenblatt as our chief revenue officer and we'll be rolling out our first premium offerings for businesses within the next few months,” said Erin Gleason, the company's PR manager. “We're looking for someone with a solid background in business and technology press to support Steven and his growing team, and shape the narrative around all the upcoming changes to our merchant-facing tools."
Gleason and PR and events associate Laura Covington will both report to the new PR director, who will also work closely with Foursquare's eight-person marketing team. Foursquare is looking for someone with 10 or more years of PR experience and in-depth knowledge of business and tech press.
Foursquare recently revamped its mobile app for iOS and Android to focus more on its "explore" feature than the check-ins it was previously most known for. The explore tab now offers suggestions and specials to users based on history, location, nearby destinations, time, and location of friends. It also enables users to see photos, tips, lists, and locations posted by friends.
