Wagstaff Worldwide acquires Rivera PR

SAN FRANCISCO: Hospitality PR firm Wagstaff Worldwide has acquired Bay Area agency Rivera Public Relations.

SAN FRANCISCO: Hospitality PR firm Wagstaff Worldwide has acquired Bay Area agency Rivera Public Relations.

Rivera represents a number of Bay Area hospitality, lifestyle, and consumer brands including Dom Perignon, Park Tavern, Saison, and Beretta.

In addition to taking on Rivera's clients, Wagstaff will continue to distribute Rivera's weekly newsletter, which includes a roundup of restaurant reviews for clients, associates, and food aficionados.

Following the acquisition, Rivera founders Jared and Steve Rivera will focus their attention on Chefs Feed, a restaurant mobile app they launched in 2011. The app provides “locals-only dining secrets,” restaurant and dish recommendations, and information on when and where notable chefs dine.

“The opportunity presented itself. Rivera was looking to get out of PR because they have their Chef Feed app, and it just seems like a natural fit,” said Carissa Remitz, executive director at Wagstaff.

Wagstaff did not release the price or other terms of the acquisition, such as whether any Rivera employees will stay on permanently or for a transition period.

In addition to the clients acquired in the deal, Wagstaff's roster includes Intercontinental San Francisco, Lark Creek Restaurant Group, Chipotle, and the Patina Restaurant Group. The firm has offices in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Aspen, CO.
