BEAVERTON, OR: Nike has named Taylor its PR agency partner for the Jordan Brand after reviewing several agencies in recent months.
A Jordan Brand representative confirmed it had selected Taylor, but declined to give further details on the relationship or the review process.
The Jordan Brand had worked with PMK-BNC on communications for the past 10 years, with the firm's Los Angeles office leading work on the account. Representatives at PMK-BNC declined to comment on its PR work for the Jordan Brand, but said it is still working with the Nike business unit on influencer marketing.
Taylor representatives deferred comment on the business win to the shoemaker.
Nike is planning to re-release the Nike Air Jordan 7, the “Olympic” version of its flagship sneaker, for the 2012 Summer Games in London later this month for $160.
At the beginning of June, Nike partnered with Coca-Cola, HJ Heinz, Procter & Gamble, and Ford Motor Company on a sustainability initiative to create 100% plant-based plastic materials.
Last week, Nike said its fourth-quarter 2011 profit fell 8% year-over-year but its North American Q4 revenue increased 13% to $2.4 billion compared with the previous year. The company also said it plans on focusing more investment this year on the Jordan Brand, as well as its Nike, Converse, and Hurley businesses to help them drive growth.
