Burson hires Heimowitz, Beard in crisis group

NEW YORK: Burson-Marsteller has hired Mike Heimowitz as MD and Chris Beard as director in its Issues and Crisis Group.

NEW YORK: Burson-Marsteller has hired Mike Heimowitz as MD and Chris Beard as director in its Issues and Crisis Group.

Heimowitz will be based in Washington DC while Beard will be based in Chicago. Both will report to Burson MD Karen Doyne, who leads ICG's crisis team.

Previously, Heimowitz was an SVP at Porter Novelli, where he managed campaigns and media relations for several clients. Prior to that, he served as senior manager for communications and advocacy at the American Chemistry Council for 11 years.

Beard was formerly the director of global reputation management at SC Johnson, where he did crisis work and led the company's strategic issues management process. He has also held roles at Kraft Foods, Phillip Morris, and Arthur Andersen.
