All eyes will be on Tampa tonight – and specifically Ann Romney and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie – when the Republican National Convention is set to begin despite Tropical Storm Isaac threatening the Gulf Coast.
Mrs. Romney and Christie are both scheduled to speak during the 10 pm hour of the convention. Christie is expected to stick with the brash, tough-talking style that made him a star in the Republican Party.
Pundits believe Ann Romney will try to “humanize” her husband, who has faced a barrage of attacks battering his record running private equity firm Bain Capital. It's Mrs. Romney's job to change her husband's image from corporate tycoon to a businessman with a heart who has helped others through tough times and supported her during struggles with multiple sclerosis and breast cancer.
Mitt Romney is scheduled to fly to Indiana to campaign on Wednesday, then return to the convention the next day to officially accept his party's nomination.
Meanwhile, pro-Democrat Super PAC Priorities USA Action is planning to run an ad starring a former Romney supporter and Massachusetts business owner criticizing Romney's job-creation record in her state.
