NEW YORK: Syndicate Media Group has promoted associate partner Samantha Kain to MD of its New York office, a newly created role at the agency.

Kain, who joined the firm in 2008, is reporting to Syndicate founding partners Nathan Ellis and Nima Abbasi and managing a full-time staff of 22 employees in New York. Three more staffers will come on board in the next few weeks, said Kain.

Syndicate created the MD position for the New York office to help it grow into a mid-sized agency, said Kain.

“My goal for this role is to drive and manage the growth as we continue to expand,” she said. “That entails putting different structures in place for larger-scale clients, as well as bigger teams.”

Kain's main responsibilities include retaining clients and staff members, managing client profitability and client-facing staff, providing senior oversight on large-scale accounts, and working with the operations team on HR and recruiting efforts.

She added that Syndicate has “different teams within the agency with different capabilities,” so she is focusing on creating a sound staffing arrangement.

“Clients are using us for different service lines, so my role is to put together staffing plans that allow us to run the business efficiently, and we need to create more structure as we're growing,” said Kain.

At the beginning of the year, Syndicate hired Marisa Brickman, former senior brand manager and director of global brand communications for Diageo's Ketel One Vodka, to serve as MD of the Los Angeles office. Kain and Brickman will collaborate on national account efforts and business opportunities.

Prior to joining Syndicate, Kain worked at Rubenstein Public Relations as VP for six months. Before that, she was an account director at Paul Wilmot Communications for more than five and a half years.

Syndicate's client roster includes Evian, champagne company Veuve Clicquot, Bentley, and Russian Standard Vodka, which expanded the firm's role to PR AOR from digital AOR in June.
