Definition 6 buys Synaptic Digital, expands globally

NEW YORK: Unified marketing agency Definition 6 has acquired Synaptic Digital, an earned media and content distribution company, expanding the firm's global reach and increasing its revenue to in excess of $45 million.

NEW YORK:  Unified marketing agency Definition 6 has acquired Synaptic Digital, an earned media and content distribution company, expanding the firm's global reach and increasing its revenue to in excess of $45 million.

The acquisition nearly doubled the staff of Definition 6 to more than 200, and enhanced the firm's content marketing and content distribution abilities, such as broadcast and post-production, social media, and technology support.

As a result of the deal, Definition 6 also now has international reach, which will help the agency deliver content for brands at global events. Synaptic is headquartered in New York, and has offices in London, Ahmedabad, Beijing, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Mumbai, Munich, San Francisco, and Washington, DC.

In addition to augmenting its offerings, which include strategic communications, digital marketing, and web development, Definition 6 acquired, and will continue to invest in, Synaptic's TheNewsMarket.com content network. The platform provides rights-free news videos to media professionals on broadcast outlets, news sites, or blogs.

Definition 6's clients include Coca-Cola, HBO, Mitsubishi Electric, and Sesame Street.

The deal is Definition 6's second large acquisition in three years, following its purchase of video post-production shop Creative Bubble in 2009, which helped the agency develop its entertainment division.

In 2009, the agency also acquired Leach Communications, a PR and Web services firm.

In March 2011, Definition 6 was selected by Vistage International, a CEO organization with more than 14,000 members, to handle PR and strategic communications.
