Burson names Zitlow chair of US healthcare practice

NEW YORK: Burson-Marsteller has appointed David Zitlow as US chair of its healthcare practice and Lisa Davidson as deputy US chair.

NEW YORK: Burson-Marsteller has appointed David Zitlow as US chair of its healthcare practice and Lisa Davidson as deputy US chair.

Zitlow's duties were previously performed on an interim basis by Helene Ellison, who will continue in her role as global healthcare chair. Zitlow will report to Ellison and US CEO Dave DenHerder.

Ellison took over US healthcare duties from Chris Foster, who left the position in 2010 for a role at consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton.

Zitlow joined Burson last November to lead healthcare teams in its West and Midwest regions. Previously, he was the chief marketing and communications officer at Cord Blood Registry, a stem cell preservation company.

Prior to Cord Blood Registry, Zitlow was EVP and healthcare practice leader at GolinHarris.

“[Zitlow] has great depth of experience in the US healthcare market and is a strong addition to our global team,” Ellison said, in a statement.

Davidson has led Burson's New York healthcare group since joining the firm in 2009. The deputy chair post is a new position at the WPP Group firm.

Prior to joining Burson, Davidson spent nearly 17 years at Porter Novelli, where she was partner and led the New York healthcare practice.

Late last month, Burson hired Michael Law, formerly president of Ogilvy & Mather West, as US president. It also named former Racepoint Group EVP and GM Bill Orr as EVP in San Francisco.

A Burson representative could not be reached immediately for comment.
