H+K creates separate China division

NEW YORK: Hill+Knowlton Strategies has spun off its China operations into its own region. Previously the China network operated as part of H+K's Asia region.

NEW YORK: Hill+Knowlton Strategies has spun off its China operations into its own region. Previously the China network operated as part of H+K's Asia region.

Beijing MD Ye Yu and Shanghai MD Ivy Soonthornsima will lead the China region as co-presidents, reporting to global chairman and CEO Jack Martin. Ye will continue to manage Beijing operations, as well as the corporate advisory, public affairs, crisis, healthcare, technology, energy, and sustainability practices. Soonthornsima will retain oversight of Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Pan-China business, along with the corporate communications, marketing, finance, and investor relations practices. She will also help to develop digital and integrated communications and branding initiatives in China.

Asia president and CEO John Morgan will continue to manage Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Korea, and Malaysia for H+K, as well as the agency's affiliates in Indonesia, Taiwan, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

H+K has more than 500 employees in Asia, 250 of whom are based in China.
