NEW YORK: Middleberg Communications has merged with social media agency Laundry Service to create the new holding company 247 Group.

The merger has formalized the relationship between the two agencies, which have worked in the same office in Manhattan for the past year, sharing clients and collaborating on business development initiatives.

Don Middleberg, now the CEO of the eponymous agency and Laundry Service, will become chief executive of 247 Group. Jason Stein, founder of Laundry Service and president of the two agencies, will serve as president of 247 Group.

Middleberg became principal and CEO of Laundry Service last May, retaining his role as Middleberg chief executive. Middleberg Communications also acquired GS Schwartz & Co. last July after three months of planning.

The agencies, which have a combined headcount of 24, will maintain their respective brands.

The most recent iteration of Middleberg Communications was founded in 2004. Laundry Service was created in 2009 as a video production agency, and it expanded into social media last year.

Clients include IT firm All Sector Technology Group, digital agency Sapient Nitro, and confectionary company Madeline Chocolate.

Middleberg has also acquired The Dowd Agency and TowersGroup in the past seven years.
