ST. LOUIS: Former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has joined FleishmanHillard's international advisory board.

Panetta's career in public service includes stints as director of the CIA and secretary of defense in the Obama administration. After serving as a member of the House of Representatives from 1977 to 1993, he took the role of director of the Office of Management and Budget in the Clinton administration. He later served as President Bill Clinton's chief of staff.

In 1997, Panetta founded the Panetta Institute for Public Policy, which works to attract young men and women to careers in public service.

Fleishman's advisory board also includes former White House chief of staff Andy Card, retired US Army Gen. Barry McCaffrey, and former US Trade Representative Mickey Kantor. The Omnicom Group agency brought on former New York Times Company president and CEO Janet Robinson last February as a board member.

Fleishman rebranded from Fleishman-Hillard earlier this month, removing the dash in its name and introducing a new brand platform, logo, and tagline. The firm also launched an integrated campaign to unveil its new positioning.
