HONG KONG: After being named PR agency partner for the Tourism Bureau of Kaohsiung City in Hong Kong in the second quarter, FleishmanHillard is charged with helping the organization lure more tourists to the harbor city for vacation.

Fleishman's Hong Kong spokesperson said the selling point for Kaohsiung is that there are more than 80 direct flights from Hong Kong to the city that take slightly more than an hour.

“Taiwan is one of the most popular short-haul destinations for Hong Kong [residents], with many of them having travelled to Taipei on several occasions,” the spokesperson said. “So it would be good for them to explore a different part of Taiwan, especially Kaohsiung, which is authentically Taiwanese and very laid-back compared with Taipei.”

TBKC has appointed pop-rock band May Day as its global brand ambassador. The band will be in Hong Kong on June 10 to attend a media event intended to spread the word about the dynamic culture and characteristics of Kaohsiung.

Kaohsiung is the second-most-populated city in Taiwan after Taipei and is known for its harbor. It is nicknamed the “Harbor City of Taiwan.”

The account will add to Fleishman Hong Kong's PR experience in the travel and tourism sector. It has worked on the Venetian Macau, City of Dream, Sands Macau, and as the global PR agency for Hyatt Hotels.
