TAIPEI, TAIWAN: HTC has appointed Lorain Wong, former SVP of marketing and communications at Pacnet, as VP of global PR and corporate and internal communications.
Wong, who is based in the company's Taiwan headquarters, is reporting to CMO Benjamin Ho. She is tasked with overseeing the company's global communications strategies, including PR, media and analyst relations, corporate communications, and issues management. Wong will also lead internal communications efforts for HTC.
Jason Gordon, HTC's former VP of global communications, left the company in May. Its chief product officer also moved on at that time.
During Wong's nine-year stint at Pacnet, she led a global team that focused on corporate media and analyst positioning, communications strategies, external and internal corporate communications, brand management, website development, and marketing programs. She also worked with the company on its rebranding from Asia Global Crossing to Asia Netcom to Pacnet.
Before that, Wong worked at Qwest Asia, serving as VP of corporate marketing and communications. She also previously worked as head of corporate communications at Global One Asia Pacific.
Prior to moving to Asia, Wong worked in California, serving as director of partnership marketing for AT&T, where she focused on sports and entertainment partnerships.
HTC was seeking a firm last month to help on a major project to drive its flagship HTC One handset in the UK. At the beginning of the year, the company hired Harvard PR to handle media relations in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
