NEW YORK: Deloitte is in the early stages of a PR agency review, making it the latest in a string of professional services firms to evaluate their communications rosters.

The company is preparing to issue an RFP for its US consulting business, according to a document seen by PRWeek. Deloitte has reached out to agencies asking them to explain their relationships with its competitors with the intention of inviting them to respond to an RFP. Proposals will be due July 8. A prospective budget amount for the account is not known at this time.

Deloitte Consulting is one of the company's numerous units, offering services in areas such as financial advisory, risk and compliance, accounting, and taxes.

A representative from Deloitte declined to comment.

Deloitte works with Hill+Knowlton Strategies and MWW, both of which the company hired in 2005 to work on major areas of its PR programs. At the time, Deloitte chose H+K for its industries and functions work and MWW for the executive communications services.

Last year, Keith Lindenburg left his position as MD of national public relations at Deloitte after seven years at the company. He joined Edelman in February as EVP and technology group head. Langdon Cook, director of national PR at Deloitte, has worked at the company since 2005.

Consulting firm Navigant hired Edelman as US AOR in April. It is understood Ernst & Young is also in the process of reviewing PR agencies. E&Y brought on Kreab Gavin Anderson as its retained media relations agency in the UK late last year.
