L'Oreal names first lady's comms director as its CCO

NEW YORK: L'Oreal USA has appointed Kristina Schake, first lady Michelle Obama's communications director, as CCO.

NEW YORK: L'Oreal USA has appointed Kristina Schake, first lady Michelle Obama's communications director, as CCO.

Starting July 8, Schake will lead PR and corporate communications, media relations, industry and government relations, and sustainability and crisis communications for the company. She will also oversee L'Oreal USA's corporate philanthropic programs.

Schake is special assistant to President Barack Obama and communications director for the first lady. Prior to joining the White House in 2010, Schake was co-founder and principal of California-based public affairs and communications firm Griffin|Schake.

Maria Cristina González Noguera will replace Schake as the first lady's communications director and special assistant to the president, starting in July.

Noguera is VP of corporate communications at Estée Lauder, where she oversees media relations, issues management, employee engagement, and government affairs. She previously was MD at Washington, DC-based agency Chlopak, Leonard, Schechter & Associates.
