DALIAN, CHINA: Following a competitive bid, the World Economic Forum has chosen Ogilvy Public Relations as its official PR partner for this year's Annual Meeting of the New Champions, widely known as the Summer Davos.
The event will begin on Wednesday in Dalian, China, and run through Friday. It is the event's seventh year in the country.
The Summer Davos will bring together more than 1,600 leaders from government, corporations, academia, media, and civil society to discuss issues surrounding this year's theme, “Meeting the Innovation Imperative.”
Ogilvy PR has formed a team that provides the forum with on-site Chinese and international media relations support in its seven years working with the forum. The team will also focus on developing a social media strategy for Chinese platforms including Sina Weibo, Tencent Weibo, and WeChat.
Ogilvy PR was also the official agency for two of the forum's other Asian meetings, which took place in Myanmar in June 2013 and in India in November 2012.
“As the economic power of China's middle class rises and their needs diversify, China's potential for innovation will dominate the economic conversation as the country makes stides towards developing a number of innovative products and services,” said Scott Kronick, president of Ogilvy PR in North Asia.
