NEW DELHI: Weber Shandwick has appointed Mabel Phoon EVP and international client services director for Asia.

Phoon is relocating to India and is taking a spot on Weber's leadership team in the country. She is reporting to both Baxter Jolly, vice chairman for Asia-Pacific, and Weber India MD Atul Ahluwalia.

Phoon will divide her time among the firm's New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore offices, focusing on supporting key client programs and taking a lead role in managing relationships within the global Weber network, the firm said in a statement.

Phoon joined Weber in Singapore in 1997, where she served as regional practice head and later EVP. She moved to New York in 2010 as a client leader for a Weber client.

“Her move to Weber Shandwick India reflects the huge importance we attach to developing our operations and capabilities in India,” Jolly said in a statement. “We will be investing heavily in new talent and services in India in the coming months, and [Phoon] will be very involved in helping us bring these plans to fruition. Her experience with major campaigns in Asia and with driving key global client relationships from New York will be major assets to our India leadership team.”
