Maryland selects Stanton Communications for tourism

BALTIMORE: The Maryland Office of Tourism Development recently hired Stanton Communications to help enhance the PR efforts of its in house team, which previously handled all PR internally. Slated to begin February 1, the $70,000 annual contract is the result of a two-month RFP process and is subject to review after one year. The goal is to increase exposure of Maryland as a tourist destination among potential travelers in the mid-Atlantic region, according to Liz Fitzsimmons, manager of advertising and communications for the state's tourism office. Fitzsimmons said the group decided to hire a PR agency due to a limited advertising budget and an interest in further exploring PR as an avenue for communication. Stanton will place a strong focus on online and social media outreach.
