TUCSON, AZ: Gannett announced that it is shuttering the print edition of the Tucson Citizen after its May 16 issue. Its Web site will continue, focusing on opinion and without news or sports coverage, according to its own reporting.

Bob Dickey, president of the US community publishing division at Gannett, said in a statement that "dramatic changes in our industry combined with the difficult economy" were to blame for the shuttering.
