VPE launches social media practice for Latino market

LOS ANGELES: VPE Public Relations launched its Latino social media specialty area, 'commUNITY' on May 20.

LOS ANGELES: VPE Public Relations launched its Latino social media specialty area, "commUNITY" on May 20. The practice area, led by agency principal Patricia Perez, will work with clients to design, develop, and maintain Web sites, create digital press kits, oversee online research, and work with social networks like Facebook and Twitter.

The agency's new practice area is all about "cross connecting all these platforms," Perez explained, and "trying to unify [a client's] existing message."

Perez said that a lot of VPE's work will be educating clients about the way that social media can help reach the Hispanic and Latino audience. This market is starting to catch up to the general market in terms of using social media, she said, and it is important for companies to reach them through the tools they use.
